Finn wasn't a morning person, and had firmly decided the night before that if he woke up early on the weekend that he was wasting several hours that he could have spent sleeping away. He had to be up early enough for classes, and on the weekend he liked to get some damned good sleep. As such, when he woke up in the morning and found that his clock only showed that it was 9:15 in the morning, he growled a little to himself and then rolled over. Finn didn't stir again for another three hours, and when he awoke then he was content. He slept like the dead, but only when he didn't want to, which was more than annoying. His internal clock liked to pull fast ones on him.

That aside, he rolled out of bed and got dressed in the typical fashion. Black everything, as was his taste, not that he was a goth kid. He wasn't. He didn't wear enough specialized clothing to be considered as such. He looked himself over in the mirror for a moment or two. He saw things in mirrors on occasion, saw people, saw shapes. He knew what they were, not always who they were, but definitely what. And what they were was the dead, obviously. They no longer bothered him as they did when he was younger. But they did stir his emotions a tad. This was mostly due to the fact that unless they fully manifested themselves nearby, he didn't have the power yet to be able to help them out and effectively move them on to the next plain of existence

He wandered out of his dorm room with a set of headphones and a napsack full of spraycans. He was feeling artistic. Which was a shame of the pristine walls that he was going to assault, but really, he knew people were rather fond of his work. Even if they didn't know who was doing it. And so he took great pride in his work and an intense pleasure in doing it. He traipsed out into the courtyard, looking around with a small grin. It was fully empty at the moment, which was great for him. He looked around at the walls and various plantlife, deciding to go to a more discrete location within the courtyard, taking up some space behind a throng of trees, and then setting down a bag. He looked over at the wall, the section of which that he wanted being ivy free. He was happy, it wasn't very frequent that you found a wall that wasn't fully obscured by something.

He took out a spraycan from his pocket. Big, and black. He wanted to begin with a background. So he started to spray at a safe distance from the wall to keep it from dripping. If anyone came he'd phase through the wall and out of sight.

Andie stalked through the courtyard silently. She loved the feeling and how it made her feel more cat-like. She heard a noise in the distance and lightly treaded toward it. She peered through the trees and found a boy spray painting a section of wall. She watched him for a few minutes as he went from black to another color. After about ten minutes, she finally spoke. "That's a lovely piece of art," she said in a smooth, thoughtful voice that was almost dreamy.

Finn worked on his painting for quite some time, painting over the black and spraying a cavlecade of colours over it, eventually creating a sunset on a lake, and a woman bathing. He was very proud of it, actually, and rather astonished that it had come out so well, giving the hastiness of its creation. Nonetheless, he looked it over with a grin, debating what to do with it next. He was thinking symbols in the sky. Yeah, yeah that would be a pretty wicked idea. What sort of symbols? Hmmm....He thought about it for a moment.

He was about to act again, but it was a good thing he didn't, looking it over meticulously was definitely a plus in this situation. Because a girl spoke behind him, sounding rather close, and he must have jumped a foot in the air. His eyes bugged out and he whipped around, his hood falling off as he saw a redheaded girl there. He had no idea who she was, but he was fairly sure that she would squeal. Pretty a picture as it was or not. "Ohgod! You nearly gave me a heart attack, don't scare people like that." He put a hand to his chest, his eyes totally wide.

"Who the hell are you?"

When the boy jumped and whipped around, Andie took a step back, startled slightly herself. "I-I'm sorry," she stuttered slightly. "I was just admiring your painting. I thought it was lovely." He asked her who she was. "I'm Andie. Andie Galen. I'm new to the school," she explained. "Who are you?" she asked, offering a friendly handshake. Gee, she had the habit of meeting boys today, didn't she?

Andie hadn't noticed that in the event of jumping about a foot in the air and whipping around to face her, that his hood had fallen from his head, revealing black hair. He was also wearing black pants, black shoes, and, she assumed, a black shirt under the hoodie. She offered him a smile that indicated that her intentions were friendly, but she had no idea how he would respond.

He looked at the girl, quizzically, she seemed more than friendly, but he couldn't help but feel hesitant. He had one of those guyt feeings that told him that something about her was...something. He wasn't about to mind-dig on it, because that was just beyond rude. But there was something. He tilted his head to the side a little, in a vaguely canine manner and stuck both of his hands in his front pockets, relaxing a little, but still keeping himself on his toes. He offered her a bit of a smile, unsure of what else to do. "Fiontann Jackalyn, but I prefer Finn...You're a newb?"

He reached out and took her handshake with a hand that was clad in a fingerless glove, but he didn't have black nailpolish on. He wasn't an emo kid. He might have looked like one, but he wasn't. He was drawn to dark colours out of his nature, not because he was crawling in his skin, or wasn't okay (he promised), or...well, he was finding it hard to make jokes. Damn. Finn felt vaguely diminished. "You think it looks nice? Well, good. That was sort of my intention." he said with a knowing smile on the verge of being a smirk. He took his hand back and stuck it back in his pocket.

Andie nodded as the boy took her hand and introduced himself. She put her hand into the front pocket of her jeans once he released it. "Finn, huh? Yes, I'm a newbie. I'm not used to learning about my powers and how to control them. I didn't even know that I took after a goddess for the longest time." Andie felt kind of stupid for admitting how new to her powers she was and looked at her shoes nervously, which just happened to be her favorite pair of tennis shoes.

Andie wasn't normally the nervous type, but it was something about this guy that she now knew as Finn that intimidated her. It was almost as if she was supposed to fear him. She felt a somewhat of a power surge come from him, like he was extremely powerful, or at least that's what she sensed. She looked up at him. "So, what's it like here?" she asked, trying to break the tension.

Well, the girl seemed friendly enough, which was good, because Finn was sort of under the impression that people could be excellent liars, and that while someone might wear a smiling face, they could stab you in the back in a second. But Finn also knew that it was incredibly unhealthy to think that way, so all he could do was feel more or less at ease with everything. Hell, she'd even complimented his work, which was pretty awesome. "Yeah, Finn, it's less of a mouthfull. And don't much worry about being a newb. Sooner or later a newer kid'll come along and it won't feel like it sucks as much. And people tend to get into the swing of things pretty easily here. I think it's the being around other people with the same sort of issues. Your powers should come sooner than later too. Believe me, I know, I've been here for three years." he said with a casual grin.

He could sense a tension beginning to build between the two of them, and evidently she could too, he could see it in her eyes. Maybe they could just cut through it altogether. "Oh, it's great here. You wouldn't think a mountain would be the best place for a school, or that sticking a bunch of hormonal young deities together would be a smart idea, but it's actually really nice." he offered cheerfully. That was one thing that Finn was. Almost always in good spirits. Unless he hadn't slept, or if you were on his selective list of people he decidedly didn't like. "So what Pantheon are you from?"

Andie grew more hopeful as Finn told her about the school. He asked her about her pantheon. "Uh, you mean which culture my goddess is? I take after Sekhmet, Egyptian goddess of war and healing," she said matter-of-factly. She looked at him and felt intimidated again. Why did she feel intimidated by him? Was his a powerful deity? Should she fear him?

He began to wrack his brain for everything he'd ever heard about the goddess Sekhmet. She was from the same pantheon as him, which was pretty neat, he supposed. She was also a cat. A cat. He didn't know how that would go over, being that he took after a decidedly canine creature. Nonetheless, he raised an eyebrow with vague interest about it. "Sekhmet, really? That's pretty neat." he mused as he stuck his hands in his jeans pockets, glancing back at his mural for a moment or two. Hmmm...would he do anymore on that, or just leave it as is. He'd ask her maybe, after. "Yeah, I take after, or am, or however it is this works, Anubis. Egyptian God of Embalment, Dying, and the Afterlife."

"Oh, that's cool. Another Egyptian god. Good to know I'm not alone." Maybe that's why he was so intimidating. Not only was he the god of death and embalming. He was a dog. "So, um.....how did you first discover your powers?" she asked trying to break the tension.

"Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure there're a couple more." he mused casually, trying to relieve her of the suprising amount of tension she seemed to have gathering around and within her. This was super awkward feeling, though he might not look like it. He knew she took after a cat and all, but still. He shrugged a little when she asked about how he discovered his power, and he felt a little unsure whether or not it would be a good idea to tell her. His powers were a little...overwhelming, to say the least. And the way that he got them was a little...over the top as well. "Well, first of all, there's a lot of tension building up here. I know that you feel it too, so I'm just gonna come right out and say that I'm not gonna bite your head off, so stop looking at me like I'm going to. Trust me, we may be just like them, but we're not the gods we take after." he said with a touch of ernestness. He didn't like the idea of being intimidating without deciding to be. "And I found out about my powers in a fight. Accidentally summoned a spirit. It wasn't that bad though."

Andie was shocked by his blunt honesty, but she also liked it since it relieved her fears. "Oh, I see," she said, regarding how he discovered his fears. "My powers were discovered slowly. I mean, I've always been short-tempered, but I was stronger than your average person. I got in a fight when I was fourteen, and I kicked the little prick's ass too. He deserved it, too. I've been learning about the medical field, too, and I've got natural talent in that, too," Andie said with a shrug.

"Cool, so your abilities are all physical based?" Then again, his were fully metaphysical, dealing with beyond life. He supposed, in theory, that if you were a god of natural corpeal things, you had natural corpeal powers. He had, well, overwhelming ethereal powers. He could walk through walls, he could hear thoughts, and do all manner of things to the dead. Because that was what was required of his job. Well, he supposed it was of his job. He chuckled. "Yeah, I think a fight here would be a bit more intense. Because you never know what somebody's gonna pull out next."

"Yeah," Andie said, nodding her head. "What are your powers based on? Mental?" Andie was relaxing now and didn't feel quite so intimidated. "So, Finn, your full first name, what does it mean?" she asked, her brow slightly furrowing.

He shrugged a little at her question. "My powers? They're actually metaphysical. Sort of psychic, but not really the same thing. I can read minds, I can summon, speak to, and control the dead, and I can walk through walls." he said with a bit of a grimace. That came out sounding a little bit over the top. Especially the casual way in which he said it. He just felt like there was no other way to really put it. While Finn didn't really have a problem with tooting his own horn, he didn't like not being able to choose the moment that he did it. He raised an eyebrow a little at her question. "My name, Fiontann means phantom."
