Open to anyone willing
Verna looked out at the rest of the people. Her dark eyes peering curiously at the figures passing this way and that before her. Everyone hurried on their way. Why? There were no classes to attend today, so why the hurry? But, no... everyone tried to get to the destination before everyone else, despite the goal being different... Then again, people were always in a hurry to get somewhere before the time runs out. They never seem to pause and take a step back and just look at everything from afar.
She shifted a little in her spot by the wall. Or rather, in the wall... She was sitting on one of the many uneven walls that had a crook here, a step there, just the little oddities where one could sit and watch the people. The one she found, was like a little alcove in the wall. Not quite a crack, but someething that resembled a place where a statue to some God should stand, but for one reason or another isn't. She raised her legs a bit, resting them against the opposite wall.
People were funny.... She glanced down at the ring she was playing with. Key... Key.... Key... How many where there? The question is, where did she get it? She couldn't remember it any more it was so long ago. but, as she found out, the keys could lead and open doors that typicallyl stayed lock. What surprised her the most was the fact that no one noticed. No anouncement, nothing. No, don't take her wrong, she liked that, quite a bit, it was simply curious. ... She shived the thingn back in the folds of her clothing before lookign out.
She had keys to the world... The question was... what did she want to do with them?

Fey, Sorren W. i'm burning through the skies two hundred degrees that's why they call me mister fahrenheit i'm travelling at the speed of light
I closed my eyes, drew back the curtain To see for certain what I thought I knew
The joyous, clearly masculine voice echoed through the halls, despite his walking figure still be fairly far away from the girl at the time. He sauntered through the halls as if he owned them, and most of the school's occupants knew this was a regular occurrence. They, quite bluntly, ignored him.
Far far away, someone was weeping But the world was sleeping Any dream will do
He threw a smile to the few that paid attention to him, whether with their wide-eyed stares, or rolls of their eyes. A few impatient persons brushed past him, but never actually pushed him out of the way. They knew it would have been a fruitless effort. They especially didn't try to shut him up. It wasn't like his singing was painful to listen to.
I wore my coat, with golden lining Bright colours shining, wonderful and new And in the east, the dawn was breaking And the world was waking
He'd drawn closer quickly, but mostly due to his long, confident strides rather than speed. He actually had nowhere to go, and he was just enjoying the day. His step faltered as he almost walked right past her, tucked away in the usually empty spot, as his voice trailed off, and he back up the few steps he'd taken past the alcove. His voice was softer, curious, and almost off-tune, but not quite, as he finished the last line of the verse, sidling over closer to the wall.
Any dream will do...
His head tipped ever so slightly to side out of curiosity, and a smile played across his lips, as it often did. He wasn't the most serious of seniors.
Now, now. What are you doing here all alone and hiding from the sun? It's gorgeous day, you should at least be outside.

Lost in her thought, Verna didn't exactly hear the song that seemed to ring off of every surface of the hall. It was kind of like the music in the background that one plays when preforming some task. Drawing for example... or trying to mask one's steps on the way out of the room in the middle of the night. Not too noticible and quickly dismissed, but effective non the less... or at least to her it seemed so...
Plans for the newly discovered keys were forming in her head by the dozens. But that was nothing new, at least not to her. Her mind was always working, plotting, calculating... After all, one can never be too sure of what will happen in the near future, and what the situation will require of him or her... Yet, ironically enough, despite of that, she was compleately, and utterly uncapable of playing chess. That small detail always seemed to be a source of amusement for her dear, dear friends. They could provide any situation, and she'll weasel her way out of it. But, challenge her to a game of chess and chances are, she'll loose on the 5th move. No one could explain that paradox, then again, Verna herself was one giant paradox. Metaphorically speaking of course.
Her chain of thought, or plots rather, was bluntly distroyed by the off pitch shift in the music, and the shadow that fell across the alcove she was in. Her dark eyes slowly lifted to the source of the disterbance, and her look of absolute innocence disappeared replaiced by an amused smile. Ok, so it was not one of the teachers about to yell at her for some mischive that ironically enough, she probably had nothig to do with.
She tillted her head as well, but only to see the figure towering over her better. Her memory quickly searched the faces and names she could assosiate together, but unfortunately, she did not know everyone, and thus had absolutely no idea who the person before her was, save the fact that he was a senior.
"Bonjourno!" She smiled, though her smile was with a sly tint to it. "I can ask you exactly the same question. The day indeed is lovely, but why are you inside?" her eyebrow was slightly raised in a playfull manner.

He grinned and shrugged, leaning lightly against the wall, only partially balancing himself using the bricks of this particular hallway. They weren't all brick, but some were.
Just like I could choose not to answer, as I did ask you first. However, for the sake of this not turning into a pointless argument, I suppose I could reply. I was just finishing some homework in my room which I've been procrastinating about, and was just heading outside. Now, what might your reason be?
He raised an eyebrow quizzically, a motion that often seemed to make people watching him giggle. It was such a cliche thing to do, but he couldn't help himself. And he always managed it quite well, or so he liked to think.

Verna smiled. He looked rather amusing like this. Though, he did appear as a talkative type, cheery and happy all the time. Though, airhead, wasn't exactly on the list. Somehow, she found it amusing to have a little mirror standing right before her... well, in a way, but that would be besides the point.
"Alas... I see I have no escape and must confess..." Verna sighed overdrammatically, the back of her hand raised slightly to her forehead, her eyes rolling up as she kept up the rolle of a lady. "My lord, you see? I find no interest in the lovely, lovely sun, alone that is... Unless of course, someone should wish to keep me company on that gorgeous day...Alas, since tis no one here yet, who would wish to do so, I prefer the cool halways of our school, with the secrets that this castle holds... especially if one has the right keys...." She allowed her voice traveled off as she held the act a moment longer before chuckling and allowing her hands to drop. "In the future, remind me to never do that again..." Verna smiled looking back at the guy. Theatre... is a funny thing... especially if one adds a touch of circus to it.

He laughed at her dramatic explanation. After all, it wasn't everyday you ran into someone willing to just pretend they were in a play for a moment, without cause anyway.
Will do. And you're invited to join me in my journey to find some natural light, if you wish.
He seemed perfectly patient, ready to hang around a bit in here instead, but, in truth, he was kind of itching to get outside. It had been so cloudy recently that he'd had very little sun. He loved being in the sun, though whether that was due to just personal preference or the fact he controlled plant life or a mix of both, he wasn't entirely sure. Nor did he particularly care to analyze what he liked and what he didn't, not anytime soon. That was a job for shrinks.
